Are you over the ‘green smoothie’ trend? Why not try a blackberry smoothie bowl. With only three ingredients and a short pulse in the blender, the resulting mixture will be soft, smooth and just a bit sweet. And hiding within the beautiful purple color are some amazing nutritional benefits.
With one of the highest antioxidant levels of any fruit, the blackberry may help reduce heart disease and certain types of cancer. In addition, the blackberry is full of flavonoids and manganese, which are needed for the normal functioning of your brain, nervous system and many of your body’s enzyme systems.
Blackberries are also full of vitamin C, vitamin K, and fiber. All these benefits at only 62 calories per cup.
Add some cantaloupe, strawberries, pineapples, chia seeds or oats and further boost the nutritional benefits of this beautiful smoothie bowl.
The blackberry smoothie bowl is blended to sweet, purple perfection. Hidden inside are the antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and fiber your body needs to maintain healthy functions. That green isn’t looking as appetizing as this nutrient-rich purple, now is it?
For an added nutritional boost (and pop of color), make some watermelon popsicles ahead of time. Simply blend some watermelon and a bit of honey until smooth, pour into popsicle molds and freeze.
When the popsicles are solid, add them to your bowl as an extra special way to enjoy your blackberry smoothie bowl.
With such beauty (and nutrition) in your bowl, are you convinced that being healthy doesn’t have to make you feel green? What did you use to add some color to your smoothie bowl?
