This mac and cheese flavored no churn ice cream is something new and exciting for you to try! While it does sound weird to mix ice cream with savory comfort food, you may be pleasantly surprised by its iconic, creamy, cheesy flavor resembling the dinner food we grew up on. No ice cream maker is needed for this recipe and it only uses 4 ingredients.

You may have seen this flavor in grocery stores, but it’s very easy to make at home without any special tools, so why not give it a try?

Ingredients

  • heavy cream – whipping cream also works
  • sweetened condensed milk
  • Kraft dinner cheese powder – remove the packets from the box of KD and save the macaroni noodles for another use
  • turmeric powder – to add some extra color to the ice cream

How to Make Mac and Cheese No Churn Ice Cream

Making this mac and cheese no churn ice cream is very easy!

  • Line the pan. Place a 9”×5” loaf pan in the freezer while you make the ice cream.
  • Whip. Whip the heavy cream in a large bowl with an electric hand mixer, until stiff peaks form.
  • Combine. Whisk the sweetened condensed milk with the cheese powder and turmeric in a separate bowl, until the powder is dissolved. It will be thick. Slowly add the mixture into the whipped cream and continue to whip until it is fully incorporated.
  • Freeze. Spread the mixture out into the loaf pan and cover with a piece of parchment paper. Return to the freezer for at least 6 hours, until frozen.
  • Serve. To serve, scoop into bowls and enjoy!

Macaroni and Cheese Flavors

If you want to get even more adventurous with this ice cream, there are a variety of mac and cheese flavors that you can test with this recipe. I haven’t tried them yet, but I imagine some would be just as good as the original flavor, others not so much:

  • sharp cheddar
  • white cheddar
  • extra creamy
  • spicy
  • three cheese

Storage

Keep the ice cream chilled in the freezer for up to 6 months, although you probably will have made multiple batches by then.

    1 can sweetened condensed milk, 2 packets Kraft Dinner cheese powder, 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Spread the mixture out into the loaf pan and cover with a piece of parchment paper. Return to the freezer for at least 6 hours or overnight (until frozen).
  • To serve, scoop into bowls and enjoy!
