This homemade, virgin strawberry daiquiri is an easy and quick, frozen mocktail that still has the same slushy texture and sweetness as the rum-filled version. It contains fresh ingredients, instead of a syrup that is usually filled with unwanted ingredients.

Its cool temperature makes it the perfect drink for a warm day; all it needs is a quick mix in the blender and it is ready for drinking! Check out how to make it below.

What is a Virgin Strawberry Daiquiri?

It is a frozen, blended drink consisting of strawberries, sugar, lime juice, and ice. The rum is omitted to make it alcohol-free. The best way to describe the taste is like a fresh, strawberry slushy.

The original daiquiri drink was created in 1898 by an American engineer named Jennings Stockton Cox (the recipe was recorded in his diary). It’s named after the village in Cuba that it was created in.

One theory on its creation is that after seeing the Cuban locals mixing rum with their coffee, Jennings experimented combining other ingredients with rum, like lime and sugar. Another story told by his granddaughter is that he began to use rum when the gin was running out at a party he was hosting for Americans.

While there are other variations of the drink, like classic, pineapple and honey, strawberry daiquiri is one of the most popular. Once you try it, you’ll know why!

Virgin Strawberry Daiquiri Ingredients

Fresh strawberries.
  • frozen strawberries – they need to be whole and large. If you only have small frozen strawberries, add a couple more than the recipe calls for.
  • white sugar – you can use your favorite alternative sweetener if you like.
  • lime juice – freshly squeezed is best!
  • water and icecubes

The difference between a regular strawberry daiquiri and this homemade recipe is that the regular drink has rum in it, while this recipe omits the alcohol.

Rum is usually made from fermented and distilled molasses, so it has a toasted sweetness. With this recipe’s use of sugar, the daiquiri will have plenty of sweetness and the rum will not be missed, especially if you top your virgin daiquiri with whipped cream! Just an idea.

Serving Suggestions

If you wish to have a good snack to pair with your virgin strawberry daiquiri, I recommend salty and crunchy snacks like popcorn, tortilla chips or pretzels (personal favorite). You can include dips like guacamole and/or salsa.

If you are looking for a salty, hot meal to serve it with, fried chicken with French fries are a great choice; fish tacos are great too. These hot dishes contrast well with the cold drink and will give your tastebuds a break from the sugar.

If you are serving these up at a pool party or BBQ this summer, your guests will love sipping on the cool, fruity beverage while enjoying the heat.
