Can you Freeze Canned Pumpkin Pie Filling?
Yes, you can! Leftover pumpkin pie filling can be frozen for up to 3 to 4 months. Just make sure to transfer it to a freezer safe container or zip-top bag first.
What is the Difference Between Pumpkin Purée and Pumpkin Pie Filling?
The only difference between pure pumpkin purée and pumpkin pie filling is the pie filling has been pre-sweetened and pre-spiced and sometimes color/vegetable oil has been added as well.
Can You Use Pumpkin Pie Mix Instead of Pumpkin Purée?
The good news is you can use pumpkin pie mix in place of pumpkin purée in sweet dishes. Because the filling is already sweetened, you would not want to use it in savory dishes.
The trick to using it in sweet recipes is to leave out the extra spices that the recipe calls for, since they are already in the can.
Interestingly enough, I found it hard to find pumpkin pie filling as an ingredient in my search for ways to use it up in other ways besides pie. However, as I explained above, simply omit the pumpkin pie spices (ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and allspice) in the recipe and use the filling in place of the purée in these delicious, fall-themed recipes below!
Even if you didn't omit the spices, it's going to add extra pumpkin pie flavor and I wouldn't be upset about that.

Pumpkin is a very adaptable berry (yes, it is technically a berry) that is at once at home with sweet and savory dishes. From puddings and pies to cakes, smoothies, and cookies, the addition of pumpkin into dishes always creates a stunning, tasty dish.
With its distinctive fall flavor, pumpkin is a perennial favorite flavor to celebrate the changing of seasons, especially when combined with cinnamon and other earthy spices.
I anticipate that your fall baking and cooking will be flavored with pumpkins and spice all season long, just like mine.
